24 killed, mostly teenagers, in attack on a school in Kabul
At least 24 people, including teenagers, were killed in a suicide bombing on Saturday at an educational center in the Afghan capital Kabul, Afghan officials were quoted as saying by Reuters on Sunday.
The attacker detonated his explosive charges in the street, in front of the Danish center Kawsar-e in the west of the Afghan capital, said a spokesman for the Afghan Interior Ministry.
Most of the victims are young people between 15 and 26 years old. Another 57 people were injured in the attack, the ministry said.
The attack was denounced by the Islamic State in a statement posted on Instagram, but without providing evidence in this regard.
A Taliban spokesman denied involvement in the attack, in a message posted on Twitter.
The attack, condemned by NATO and the Afghan government, took place in an area inhabited largely by the Shiite community in Afghanistan, a minority that has in the past been the target of several attacks by groups such as the Islamic State.
