Marian Iordache, a two-term former mayor of Medgidia, has died. The politician choked on food

Marian Iordache, a councilor for the National Liberal Party and former mayor of Medgidia, died Sunday night, writes CTNews.ro. The politician apparently choked on food.

Iordache, 59, died on September 13 at his home. Supposedly he choked while eating. His wife tried to help him, as did some neighbors, but could not save herself.

Representatives of the County Ambulance Service said that on Sunday night a call was received to 112 announcing that a Medgidia man had choked on food. The operator who took the call advised the family to perform the Heimlich maneuver on the man, which applies in such cases, and sent a crew to the address. When medical personnel arrived at the scene, the man was in cardiopulmonary arrest.

Resuscitation maneuvers began, but despite his best efforts, he was pronounced dead.

Marian Iordache was a councilor since 2016 representing PNL. In addition, in the last four years he was an advisor to the mayor of Cernavoda, Liviu Negoiță.

Marian Iordache was mayor of Medgidia also of PNL between 2008-2016. She was also on the NLP county council list in the September 27 election.
