PSD President Marcel Ciolacu says in a Facebook message that he sent a Constitution to President Klaus Iohannis as a gift.
“Today, Constitution day, I sent President Iohannis a copy of the Basic Law of Romania to have the necessary reference point to fulfill the will of the Romanians!” Ciolacu wrote, on Facebook.
The PSD president says Klaus Iohannis should appoint a PSD prime minister.
“The PSD must be in power and give to the prime minister!” He wrote as well.
However, according to the Constitution, “The President of Romania appoints a candidate for the post of Prime Minister, after consulting the party that has an absolute majority in Parliament or, if there is no such majority, the parties represented in Parliament.”
Thus, being in the situation where neither party obtained a 50% + 1 majority in Parliament, President Klaus Iohannis proposes a prime minister who can muster a parliamentary majority.
