24 hours before the opening of the polling stations for the 2020 local elections, Digi24 will propose an economic X-ray of the country: how counties are about to vote for a new mayor and where the best salaries are, respectively which areas of the country have lost most of the employees or most of the companies.
A comparative study between 2015 and 2019 shows that in Vaslui the average net salary increased by 79 percent, so that by the end of 2019 it reached 2,482 lei.
In Maramureș there was a 77 per cent increase, from 1,377 lei to just over 2,430 lei.
And in Neamț it increased to 2,395 lei, that is, by 76 percent.
At first glance it may seem like a spectacular increase because the percentages are very high. However, it should be noted that, at the declarative level, the average net salary in Romania exceeds 3,000 lei.
Of the 41 counties, only four manage to cross the threshold: Bucharest with more than 4,000 lei, Cluj. Timiș and Ilfov.
Tulcea, the county with the largest decrease in the number of employees
There are counties that have lost thousands of employees because they don’t have many jobs on the market.
At Tulcea, there were just over 23,300 employees in 2019 with the largest decrease compared to 2015, at 23 percent.
Mehedinti lost 22 percent of its employees in the county and had 14,600 last year.
And in Vaslui there was a decrease of 17 percent.
Counties that lost the most businesses
On the same note, we look at the number of businesses in a county. Neamț lost more than 14 percent of the companies, Botoșani 12.8 percent and was left with approximately 4,600.
The list also includes Mehedinți, with 3,608 companies, 10.5 percent less than in 2015.
At the opposite pole are the counties that have managed to attract investors: Ilfov, Cluj and Bistrița-Năsăud.
