All of France was the target of the “Islamist terrorist attack” in Nice, President Emmanuel Macron said on Thursday night, arriving at the scene of the attack in which three people lost their lives. The French president said he would increase the number of soldiers participating in the Sentinelle police operation from 3,000 to 7,000.
“This is a new Islamist attack. It must be very clear: all of France has been attacked,” Emmanuel Macron said in Nice, according to the daily Le Figaro, acquired by Mediafax.
“We are attacked for our values, for the taste for freedom, for the possibility of freedom of faith. We will not give up at all, ”Macron added.
“After the murder of Father Hamel in the summer of 2016, Catholics are being attacked and threatened once again in our country. I convey the support of the entire nation to Catholics in France and elsewhere. The entire nation is with them and will be with them, so that religion can continue to be exercised freely in our country, ”Macron stressed.

Series of attacks in France
A terrorist stabbing attack took place in the French city of Nice on Thursday. Three people died, one of them beheaded, after a man armed with a knife attacked them in a cathedral in the city center.
Two more attacks were subsequently recorded, one in Avignon and the other at the French consulate in Saudi Arabia.
Another incident took place in Lyon, where an Afghan dressed in traditional costume, armed with a knife and considered threatening, was arrested on Thursday afternoon.
