Ludovic Orban does not want to leave the issue of special pensions unchallenged at the official level.

Because special pensions are the hottest topic today, around which all parties campaigned, the Romanian prime minister debated the issue.

In an interview with Agerpres, Prime Minister Ludovic Orban stated that he intends to issue a normative act by which the provision of the Administrative Code on the granting of special pensions to mayors, vice presidents, presidents and vice presidents of county councils will be postponed again, demonstrating that this could be done by state budget law for next year.

After the elections, this must be debated in Parliament, because, even here, it does not seem fair to me, I believe that anyone who holds a position of public dignity, regardless of whether he is a parliamentarian, mayor, minister, must have a decent income. And here you have to know that the allowances have been increased for parliamentarians, for ministers, for mayors and for the presidents of the provincial councils. When you have a decent and reasonable compensation that reflects the responsibility and importance in society of that position, you will benefit from a higher pension in a contributory way, so there is no need for a special pension ”, Orban explained.

He noted that the provision in the Administrative Code on special pensions may be postponed by the state budget law, until the legislation as a whole is clarified.

Ludovic Orban also spoke about the state budget law for 2021

At the same time, the prime minister indicated that the state budget law for 2021 could be approved before the end of the year or in January, in an extraordinary session of Parliament.

Orban also affirmed that an emergency ordinance for the elimination of special pensions cannot be approved because there is a project in the debate of Parliament and another in the Constitutional Court of Romania.

“You cannot adopt an emergency ordinance when you have a law in debate or when a law is subject to constitutional control. This is an aberration. Whoever says such a thing must read the Constitution, read all the cases of the Constitutional Court,” he stressed the first Minister.

He guaranteed that all NLP parliamentarians, in the first term of the future Parliament, will have as a priority the reform of the law on the condition of deputies and senators, so these special pensions will no longer be granted.
