Prime Minister Ludovic Orban has been isolated and tested for coronavirus, after one of the people he participated with on a television show was positively confirmed.

UPDATE 10.00. Orban stated for Digi24 that he does not fall within the definition of direct contact, that he came with a mask to the show, stayed away from other guests and when he left he wore a mask again.

However, he decided to isolate himself in the office until he received the result, to avoid contact with other people.


The prime minister suspended his participation in events scheduled for Monday.

On Monday, Ludovic Orban was going to participate, at 9 am, in a working visit by Deputy Prime Minister Raluca Turcan, together with the elected Mayor General of the capital, Nicușor Dan, at the Ministry of European Funds.

At 2:00 p.m., he had scheduled a working visit to the Bucharest Mechanical Plant, together with the Minister of the Economy, Virgil Popescu, and the Minister of National Defense, Nicolae Ciucă.

The move was taken after one of the people Orban was on the same TV with last week was positively confirmed Sunday for the novel coronavirus test.

Prime Minister Ludovic Orban requested an on-demand test for the new coronavirus on Monday morning.

He did not show specific symptoms of the new coronavirus infection.

Until the result was received, the prime minister suspended physical meetings with other people.
