The prime minister discussed with the prefects and mayors, including the mayor of the capital, the provision of spaces outside the markets in Bucharest or the establishment of flying markets where local producers can sell their products. The discussions come after various associations and parties said that the measure is not justified and will mainly affect producers and traders of natural products in Romania.
Prime Minister Ludovic Orban spoke this Saturday with prefects and mayors, including the mayor of the capital, Nicusor Dan, after the decision to suspend the activity of markets that operate in closed spaces, asking them to take measures so that local producers have an “alternative possibility”. to sell your goods.
The prime minister proposed, emphasizing that his proposal refers to national producers, who can sell either in open-air spaces arranged in the market area, or in flying markets, on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
“Some are trying to run a full campaign because we have what we have with local producers. That’s stupid, but it takes a reaction. Talk to the district mayors and ask them to do it, ”the prime minister told the mayor of the capital.
The Prime Minister specified, in the discussions, that he will send to the Public Health Directorates and the Sanitary-Veterinary Directorates the request for support to the local authorities in the habilitation of said spaces.
In all discussions, the prime minister stressed that these are local producers.
In the discussion with Nicuşor Dan, he stated that in Bucharest markets there are many intermediary traders who do not have any land, who have a producer certificate obtained from different Bucharest mayors and who are not producers.
“All domestic producers who have Romanian products should have this possibility to sell in the open spaces arranged around the markets and in the flying markets,” added the prime minister.
In turn, the mayor of Sebeş, Dorin Nistor, announced on Facebook on Saturday that he spoke with the prime minister about the situation of the agri-food markets.
“The message that we want to transmit and in whose messenger they become communication with all the mayors of the Alba region is that the agri-food markets that are part of the characteristics of open and airy spaces, maintain their functionality. We want this message to reach agricultural producers, who need support during this period. In addition, consumers want to buy fresh Romanian products, which are in the generous offer of our markets, especially in the fall, “Nistor said on Facebook.
