On Saturday, Prime Minister Ludovic Orban discussed the issue of closed markets closed with Nicușor Dan, the capital’s mayor general, and with Robert Negoiță, president of the Association of Romanian Municipalities, and air markets will be organized. In fact, several mayors in the country have already announced that they will organize such markets.

In the discussion with Mayor General Nicușor Dan, the Prime Minister said that there are markets closed due to the pandemic, to provide open spaces in complete safety, and where it is possible to organize flying markets in which local producers can sell. fruits and vegetables.

These markets would be organized in Bucharest on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays.

“Some are trying to run a full campaign, because we have what we have with local producers. It’s very stupid! We have to assure local producers, I repeat – local – because in the markets of Bucharest there are many intermediaries who do not have any land ”, said Ludovic Orban.

The Prime Minister stressed that he will send the Public Health Directorates to support the local authorities in the provision of these spaces.

Orban also spoke about Robert Negoiță, president of the Association of Romanian Municipalities, so that the same measures can be adopted in the other cities of the country.

In fact, several mayors announced that they had spoken with the prime minister and started the process.

“During this morning, I had a telephone conversation with the Prime Minister of Romania, Mr. Ludovic Orban, whose main topic was agri-food markets. The message that we want to transmit and in whose messenger they become communication with all the mayors of the Alba region is that the agri-food markets that are part of the characteristics of open and airy spaces, maintain their functionality. We want this message to reach agricultural producers, who need support during this period. In addition, consumers want to buy fresh Romanian products, which are in the generous offer of our markets, especially in autumn. I remind you that the Sebeș market has had an uninterrupted activity since the beginning of this pandemic, being our concern as a local public administration to better organize the operational program, clean up the spaces and provide support to producers and traders, who have received visors and were constantly instructed to comply with health protection measures, “says Dorin Nistor, the liberal mayor of Sebeș.

“Given the increasingly rigorous measures imposed by the pandemic, it is absolutely necessary to come to the aid of producers and that is why this solution has been reached. They will be able to sell their products more easily and citizens will not be forced to give up the fresh and natural fruits and vegetables, which they can only find in the markets. Therefore, agricultural producers are encouraged to request the organization of such markets. No matter how difficult the situation is, we can find solutions if we consult and, above all, if we talk to people and listen to their wishes, ”added Marcel Laurențiu Romanescu, Mayor of Târgu Jiu.

And in Deva, Mayor Florin Nicolae Oancea announced that he is going to support Romanian producers with such a measure.

“The activity within the Central Market of Deva will change, as of Monday, due to the restrictions imposed by the COVID-19 pandemic, by decision of the National Committee for Emergency Situations. It is a decision taken at the national level to prevent the population from being infected with the SARS-VOC 2 virus. Basically, the vegetable and fruit stalls will be removed from the Central Market, in the vicinity, where the Deva City Council will ensure the conditions for a civilized, open-air commerce on three sides of the Central Plaza. The shops inside the Central Plaza will continue their activity, respecting all the health protection measures imposed by the pandemic, ”said the mayor.

He mentioned that the mayor’s office will organize air markets, in the open air, in the neighborhoods of Deva, so that people do not move around the city and there is a risk of contagion.
