The National Committee for Emergency Situations, led by Ludovic Orban, decided to ban pilgrimages, and this affected the event in Iasi, by Saint Pious Parascheva. Because believers who are not from the city of Iași no longer have access to the pilgrimage, the metropolis decided not to take out the coffin with the relics of the Saint, as in previous years, a few days before October 14.

Constantin Sturzu, spokesman for the Archdiocese of Iași, announced that a maximum of 15 priests will participate in Holy Mass on Wednesday, including the hierarchs of the Metropolitan Church. The coffin of the relic will be removed tonight or Wednesday morning.

“Tomorrow the Holy Mass will be celebrated from 09.00 am on the podium arranged on the boulevard Ștefan cel Mare şi Sfânt in front of the Metropolitan Cathedral of Iași. The council of hierarchs, priests and deacons will be small, probably no more than 15 people There will be no hierarchs from abroad or from other areas of the country, but only from the Moldavian area.

In the area in front of this podium, chairs will be placed two meters from each other in all directions, chairs that will mark the place where the faithful will sit. Unfortunately, given the restriction imposed at the national level, only those who reside in the city of Iasi will be able to enter this space, according to the first come first serve principle. Also here, in these chairs in front of the podium, will be seated the approximately 50 guests of the Metropolitan Church of Moldavia and Bucovina, representatives of institutions or personalities in fields such as medicine, culture or education. Those who cannot enter this perimeter will be able to see the solemn moment of Holy Mass on two large screens located on the Boulevard de Esteban el Grande y Santo, one in front of the Plaza de la Unión, the other towards the Palace of Culture. The service will be broadcast live on Trinitas TV and the doxologia.ro portal.

Today, around 6:00 p.m., the marquee will be decorated with flowers in the courtyard of the Metropolitan Cathedral by the same sacrificial family from Bucharest, who beautify it every year. Most likely tonight or tomorrow morning the coffin with the holy relics of St. Pious Parascheva will be removed and placed in this canopy. It is a traditional moment, dating back to before 1989, for the coffin to be removed from the Metropolitan Cathedral on at least October 14. In previous years, the coffin was taken out before the celebration, since the number of pilgrims was so great that it could not be handled alone inside the place of worship and in the courtyard, ”said priest Constantin Sturzu.
