UPDATE 14.30 George Simion: Călin Georgescu is the GOLD nominee for the post of Prime Minister
Călin Georgescu is AUR’s nominee for the post of prime minister because he is recommended by international experience and the fact that he is “honest, patriotic and a good professional,” says AUR co-chair George Simion.
“The GOLD proposal for the post of prime minister, seeing that the parties in 1st, 2nd and 3rd place did not come with convincing names, we decided to propose a prime minister to the country, Mr. Călin Georgescu. (…) It is recommended by international experience and the three elements that we ask of the leaders of Romania: to be patriotic, honest and good professionals. We came up with another proposal: we want the schools to reopen in any form, ”says George Simion.
He says he spoke with the leaders of PSD and NLP.
“Probably everyone’s Kelemen Hunor. We’re kidding!” Says George Simion, asking who he would prefer as Speaker of the House of Deputies, among Ludovic Orban, Dan Barna and Kelemen Hunor.

TO UPDATE Dacian Cioloş, USR-Plus: We don’t want any formula that PSD is involved in. We have an option for both the prime minister and the presidency of the Chamber of Deputies
Dacian Cioloş, co-president of USR-Plus, stated after consultations in Cotroceni that he does not accept any coalition formula involving the PSD.
“We do not want any formula in which the PSD is formally involved, openly or under the table, not even in the Government and less in Parliament and it is something very important for us,” said Dacian Cioloş.
He explained in relation to the possible coalition relationship with the PNL that USR-Plus wants to give to the head of the Chamber of Deputies or to the prime minister. The USR-Plus proposal for the prime minister is Dacian Cioloş, and that of the head of the Chamber of Deputies would be Dan Barna.
“The solution is not balanced when everything goes only one way and the others take the rest. That is why we said that we have an option for the prime minister, but also for the presidency of the Chamber of Deputies because these are the two positions. Most of them are being built and deconstructed in the Chamber of Deputies and the Government is implementing the government program. We have options for any of these positions that have nothing to do with organizing positions for one person or another. ”
USR-Plus Co-Chair Dan Barna stressed that he is optimistic after consultations with President Iohannis.
“We are optimistic that we will reach a solution after today’s consultations. It is important that this coalition be one, not for six months or a year, but for four years, in order to make the important reforms for the citizens of Romania.” Dan Barna said.

I presented to the president the mandate given by BPN, that is, the formation of a center-right government, with possible partners, USR PLUS, UDMR and national minorities, a government program. We also present to the president that our proposal is Florin Cîţu and the other component of the mandate – the presidency of the Chamber of Deputies ”, says the president of PNL, Ludovic Orban.

The formation of coalitions is born in a reasonable time. We will continue the discussions, we will look for what unites us and what we consider good for Romania ”, adds Orban.
He says there have been no discussions, not even informal, to create other majorities.
