The tests on the Gara de Nord – Otopeni railway began on Friday, the Minister of Transport stated the other day that the new investment could be put into operation on 12 December. The tests on the new railway section began on Friday with two Siemens Desiro (“Blue Arrow”) locomotives, because tomorrow President Klaus Iohannis is expected, who wants to take the train from the North Station to the Henri Coanda International Airport.
According to the cited source, the head of state requested that the train belong to the state railway operator CFR Călători, and not to a private company, so as not to give rise to speculation.
Recently, President Iohannis also engaged in other infrastructure projects, such as the commissioning of the 5-meter highway and the cutting of the ribbon on the Iernut-Chețani highway section.
On this last project, he said that he did not come “for holidays.” “We have come to point out that we need to work faster, we have to meet deadlines and move much faster with infrastructure work. This event is a middle ground, because we still have a lot, a lot of work in Romania,” said Klaus Iohannis.
On Tuesday, when he visited the railway line, Lucian Bode, Minister of Transport, declared that the new railway connection will be put into operation on December 12.
“I was in a test-test, in a check-up of everything that we think will happen somewhere at the end of October, when we will complete the 8 kilometers of double line. From Gara de Nord to Otopeni it is 19.5 kilometers. In 8 kilometers between Mogoşoaia and Baloteşti the line is modernized, we will have a double line. This 3-kilometer section is being built, the new DN1 footbridge from scratch, “said the minister a few days ago.
According to CFR SA, the new railway to the airport departs from the connection zone (ex Haltă Odăile) for about 600 meters, the route continues with a consolidation area, 900 meters long and a 1.52 kilometer viaduct, which crosses DN1 , to the new passenger station, from the Arrivals Terminal of the Henri Coandă International Airport.
The project ” Modernization of the railway line Bucharest North – Henri Coandă Bucharest International Airport – PHASE I: CF Connection in Terminal T1, Henri Coandă Bucharest International Airport ‘foresees the construction of a simple railway of 2.95 km in length, with three bridges, a 1.52 km long viaduct (37 piles and an abutment) that crosses DN1 and a CF station, with a double line, in Terminal T1.
The value of the contract is 398.1 million lei and the contractor is the Arcada company. The source of funding is non-reimbursable European funds.
