President Klaus Iohannis and NLP leaders met in Vila Lac on Tuesday to discuss the election results and the formation of a future governing coalition.

Klaus Iohannis told NLP leaders that he is thinking of “two, three names of prime ministers” and that a PNL-USR PLUS-UDMR government will be reversed by December 23rd. The government will have a participation of ministers proportional to the result obtained by the three political parties in the parliamentary elections.

The president reportedly told the liberals that he was very disappointed with the results obtained and “reprimanded” those who had good results at the local level, and now “they made fun of each other,” according to sources participating in the discussions. He also called on the NLP leaders to “de-politicize the administration en masse.”

After meeting with Klaus Iohannis, the Liberals returned to the NLP headquarters in Modrogan. PNL president Ludovic Orban said after the meeting that “there was a discussion about the strategy of forming a parliamentary majority and reversing a government.”

Orban also referred to statements made by USR leader Dan Barna, who said that the “military solution” is not necessarily the best, regarding a possible nomination of Nicolae Ciucă for the post of designated prime minister.

“I am giving my opinion without having made any decision on the proposal for the post of prime minister,” Orban said.
