The Canadian star known as Ellen Page from the films “Juno,” “X-Men” and “Inception” announced Tuesday that she is transgender and is now called Elliot Page, AFP reports.
“Hello friends, I want to share with you the fact that I am trans, and the pronoun is he / she and my name is Elliot. I am lucky to write this. Let me be here. I came to this place in my life,” wrote the actor in his Instagram, Twitter and Facebook accounts.
“I love being trans. And I love being queer,” added Elliot Page, 33. She currently plays the female role of Vanya in “The Umbrella Academy” on Netflix.
Netflix reacted on Twitter by expressing support for Elliot.
Page became known for her role as a pregnant teenager in “Juno” in 2007, earning her an Oscar nomination for Best Actress. Later he starred in “Inception” (2010) with Leonardo di Caprio.
In 2014, he revealed that he was gay.
“I lived in hiding for a few years. And clearly, something in Hollywood and in the film industry made me feel like I can’t confess my homosexuality. Now that I’ve revealed it, I feel like it’s” the best decision I’ve ever made, “the star told AFP in 2016, at the release of “Free Love.”
