Journalist and cartoonist Octavian Andronic (Ando) has died, his family announced in a Facebook post.
“It is with great pain in our souls that we announce the passing of Octavian Andronic, a journalist and cartoonist of incomparable value. Dear ANDO, wife Mariana, daughter Ana, the people close to you and all the collaborators who had the honor of working with you for decades, will miss you from now on! God rest in peace! ”Says the message.
The journalist, graphic artist and cartoonist Octavian Andronic (Ando) was born on May 2, 1946 in Sânnicolau-Mare, Timiş county.
He graduated from the Faculty of Philology at the University of Bucharest in 1969. That same year he made his debut in the press, working for two decades as a reporter for “Informatia Bucureştiului”.
According to Agerpres, on December 22, 1989 he founded the newspaper “Libertatea”, whose editor-in-chief and director was until 1997, when he became, for a year, media director of the Ringier Romania Group. Between 1998-1999 he directed the “Informative Lunch” of the Media PRO Group.
In June 1999 he founded the media agency “Amos News” – Informatia.ro, of which he was CEO. For a year he was deputy general director of Tele 7abc (2000-2001), and on March 1, 2006 he assumed the management of the newspaper “Cronica Română”, as executive director. In September 2006, the journalist was removed from the newspaper’s management, and was reinstated by the court in February 2007.
In the field of caricature, he established himself since his student years debuting in “Student Life”. He published cartoons in various newspapers and magazines, signing under the pseudonym Ando.

Octavian Andronic is the initiator (1998) of the computerized process of making cartoons – “videocartoon”, broadcast on ProTV (“One sentence a day”), Prima TV (“ANDOGRAPHY of the day”), Tele 7abc (“Download of the day” ), B1 TV (“ANDOGRAPHY OF THE DAY”) and TVR (“Retrospective of the week”).
He was a producer of talk shows and shows on Antena 1 (1995-1997), Pro TV (1997-1999), TVR (1999-2000), Prima TV (2000) and Tele7abc (2000-2001). , among which: “With the cards on the table”, “Point on”, “One position (pro) per day”, “On the agenda”, “Candidates tournament”, etc.
He published the volumes “Candidates Tournament for the Capital Mayor’s Office-1996” (2000); “Presidential Candidates Tournament – 1996” (2000), “Changing Changes” (2001), “Political Dictionary: B de Băsescu” (2009), “Political Dictionary: I de Iliescu” (2010), “Political Dictionary: N de Nastase “(2010),” Annotated Chronology: the year 2000 “(2010) and” Andography 2010 “(2011).
He was honorary consul of the Republic of Uruguay in Romania (1992-2009), vice president of the Trade Union of Professional Journalists of Romania (1995-1997) and president of the AlegRO Foundation (2000).
Since May 2000 he is the editor of the “electronic newspaper” of the first author, “Ziarul Personal”.
In 2013, on February 7, he released the third volume of “The Annotated Chronology of the Third Millennium: The Year 2002. Cometry Capitalism”, the foreword of which was signed by the former President of Romania, Ion Iliescu.
