Democratic candidate Joe Biden in the November 3 presidential election is not infected with the new coronavirus, according to a COVID test he conducted after meeting with President Donald Trump in the first debate of the election campaign on Tuesday. Two days later, the head of the White House announced that he tested positive for COVID.
President Joe Biden’s wife, Jill, and Kamala Harris, who will be vice president if Biden wins the presidential election, were also tested. Both were declared COVID negative.
All three were tested on Friday, following Donald Trump’s announcement. The current president has started to develop “mild” symptoms. He was tested after one of his advisers, Hope Hicks, who was nearby, was diagnosed with SARS-CoV-2.
The announcement that the COVID test is negative was made on Twitter by Joe Biden, who on this occasion urged followers to wear a mask and maintain physical distance. The former US vice president and his wife sent wishes for a speedy recovery to Trump’s spouses on Friday. On Tuesday night at the Cleveland election debate, Donald Trump taunted Joe Biden with a mask.
Joe Biden has scheduled an election event in Michigan for Friday afternoon, while Donald Trump has canceled his program and must be in quarantine.
As for Joe Biden’s teammate Kamala Harris, she and her husband, Doug Emhoff, also with a negative test, will continue their election program on Friday, traveling to Las Vegas, respectively North Carolina, writes ABC News.
