Professor Mircea Coşea explained, exclusively for DC NEWS, what are the measures that Romania should take to increase the number of jobs in the next period, but also what are the mistakes that state authorities make in the economy.

“We should have a plan, but we don’t have it yet. We have a government plan, which is called Reconstruction of Romania, but it is not funded.” For now, I only see an attempt to fix some of the deficiencies the economy has, fixing that actually means updating some lags. We still do not have roads, the program that all government leaders have in mind, this obsession with infrastructure, is leading nowhere, because we have entered another era.

We need to skip certain steps, not just focus on fixing the past. That means restructuring. We should have new economic branches, because now we have an economy based on 3 obsolete branches. We have a manufacturing economy, because we don’t create products, we don’t research them. The French come with the Renault plan and we build the car.

We also have an economy that has a small participation of national capital, which means a very high dependence on the international banking market. And we have an economy that does not process raw materials. We create added value below the European average. We import too much, and the difference between exporting and importing makes what we create go to others. The priority scheme should be reviewed, “Mircea Coşea told DC NEWS exclusively.

What should Romania do?

“We must continue with the delays, but we must also think about the economic branches that lift us from the last place in the European Union, pay more attention to research, development, robotics, computer science and develop activities that attract force. There are few activities of this kind, so we should develop many services, for example, we could develop a maintenance branch of the military equipment that we import, Poland does, we need to develop agriculture in the sense of small farms. Let us arrange the country’s population to produce there. We also have an opportunity, with many Romanians who come from abroad and who can deal with it, but it should be an incentive from the state. The climate, because our agriculture depends on the climate and it could disappear, because the drought is very severe in Romania .

We also need a branch that generates employment: research and development. We need to attract research centers of companies that produce in Romania. All this requires money, and in the conditions in which we do not finance our development, because the budget does not generate enough resources, we have to attract funds from abroad, ”Mircea Coşea also said.
