Italy, the first European epicenter of the coronavirus pandemic, a recorded, on Wednesday, the record of illnesses since the start of the pandemic – 7,332 people were confirmed, reports CNN.
Italian health authorities have announced that 7,332 people were confirmed with coronavirus in the peninsula on Wednesday. This is the highest daily number of infections since the beginning of the pandemic. The highest number of infections in Italy, during the period when the country was the epicenter of the European pandemic, was 6,557 cases daily.
In terms of deaths, 43 people died from coronavirus in Italy on Wednesday.
In total, the country has 36,289 deaths and 372,799 infections.
Italy was the hardest hit by the coronavirus at the beginning of the pandemic, in its first wave. Italian Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte announced additional restrictions on Tuesday and the state of emergency was extended again until January 31.
