The Italian prime minister has signed a decree establishing quarantine throughout the country as of Thursday.

The head of the Italian government Giuseppe Conte signed a decree, on the night of Tuesday to Wednesday, establishing the quarantine throughout the national territory from Thursday from 22:00 local time (21:00 GMT), reports this Wednesday the media of the Peninsula, quoted from AFP.

Other restrictive measures have also been decided, which Conte will detail that day and which will be in force until December 3, including the closing of shopping centers during the weekend.

Italy, the first country in Europe affected by the COVID-19 epidemic in February, registered more than 39,000 deaths in more than 750,000 cases, recalls France Presse.

According to this new decree, the 20 regions of Italy will be divided, according to the press, into three areas – green, orange and red – depending on the seriousness of the epidemiological situation and in which more or less restrictive measures will be applied.

At the national level, a traffic restriction will be imposed from 22:00 to 5:00 in the morning and it will only be possible to drive during this period for work or health reasons that must be justified.

Secondary schools will have to move to distance education and museums will be closed.

Shopping centers will also be closed on weekends or holidays and public transport will not be able to accept more than 50% of the total passenger capacity.

Cruises are also canceled from this date, except those that are already in progress.

The Ministry of Health will decide on the classification of the regions and their possible color change based on a score of factors, including the rate of transmission or occupation of beds in hospitals or intensive care units.
