In an interview with Telekom Sport, Cosmin Contra was asked if he was interested in the transfer of Constantin Budescu, it was rumored. However, the Dinamo coach assures that it is not a variant, but implied that there was talk of what the summer coup would have meant in League 1.
Dinamo has new shareholders and so far they have been willing to invest large sums in player transfers. In this idea there were rumors that Dinamo would try to transfer Constantin Budescu, which would have been the most important move of this summer. Cosmin Contra was asked if he was interested in this transfer.
Did Dinamo want to reach the summer? What Cosmin Contra says
Constantin Budescu is one of the most talented Romanian players in activity and currently has a stake of 2.4 million euros. The 31-year-old midfielder still has a contract with Astra until next summer and there have been rumors that Dinamo would attempt to hit the transfer market this summer.
Asked about a possible offer for Budescu, Cosmin Contra says the 31-year-old midfielder is not a solution for Dinamo at the moment. At the same time, it was upset that the information reached the press, which means that the club offices discussed what the summer coup would mean in League 1:
“I do not know if it is a variant at the moment. It is not normal that all things appear in the press, things that perhaps should remain within the club”, said Cosmin Contra for Telekom Sport.
Contra and Budescu came into conflict in the selection
The relationship between Cosmin Contra and Constantin Budescu is not one of the best. The two had a conflict with the national team after matches with Sweden and Spain last fall in the EURO 2020 preliminaries. Budescu was then called up to the national team, but was not used at all by Cosmin Contra.
The Astra midfielder then had a strong outburst against the former coach: “It was a joke there (not in the national team). I think very seriously that I will never return to Mogoşoaia, ”said Budescu at the time.
That conflict probably made Cosmin Contra think twice before considering the transfer of Constantin Budescu to Dinamo.
