Israel, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Bahrain signed normalization agreements on Tuesday, during a ceremony that took place on the White House lawn, in the presence of US President Donald Trump, report AFP, Reuters and dpa.
The Israeli Prime Minister has signed bilateral agreements with the Foreign Minister of the United Arab Emirates, Sheikh Abdallah bin Zayed Al-Nahyan, and the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Bahrain, Abdel Latif al-Zayani.
The three officials and the president of the United States also signed a joint statement.
The White House ceremony is the first normalization of its kind in relations between the major Arab states and Israel in more than a quarter of a century.
The walls of the Old City of Jerusalem were illuminated with the colors of the flags of the states involved in the signing of agreements to normalize relations between Israel and two Gulf monarchies.
This came shortly after the ceremony on the White House lawn, held under the auspices of the President of the United States, Donald Trump.
Also Tuesday night, the Tel Aviv City Hall building was lit up with the word “peace” in Hebrew, Rabbah and English.
“We celebrate peace in the Middle East tonight! I am sure that the agreements with the United Arab Emirates and Bahrain will have an impact on our region for the regions to come,” Tel Aviv Mayor Ron Huldai posted on Twitter.

UAE Foreign Minister Abdullah Zayed Al Nahyan said normalization of relations with Israel would allow the UAE to continue to support the Palestinians in forming an independent state, while its Bahraini counterpart described the agreement as “historic step”, reports dpa.
The agreement “will allow us to support the Palestinian people and help them fulfill their hope for an independent state,” Abdullah said.
Addressing Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Abdullah said: “Thank you for choosing peace and ending the annexation of the Palestinian territories,” a position that, according to him, will strengthen the common desire of the two countries to achieve a future. . better for future generations.
The agreement is a historic achievement for the United States, Israel and the United Arab Emirates and gives hope to the world, he said.
“This is not a catchphrase that we use for political gain at a time when everyone hopes to create a prosperous future,” said the UAE Foreign Minister.
Bahrain’s Foreign Minister Abdel Latif al-Zayani called the normalization agreement a “historic step”.
“Today is a truly historic occasion. A time of hope and opportunity for all the peoples of the Middle East,” he said.
He called for a “just, comprehensive and lasting two-state solution” between Israel and the Palestinians.
“For too long the Middle East has been held back by conflict and mistrust, causing destruction and thwarting the intentions of generations of young and intelligent,” said Abdel Latif al-Zayani.
