Israel’s biggest healthcare provider on Sunday reported a 94 percent drop in symptomatic Covid-19 cases among the 600,000 people who received two doses of the Pfizer vaccine, Reuters reports.

The Clalit health care organization, which serves more than half of Israelis, also said those vaccinated are 92% less likely to develop a severe form of the disease caused by the new coronavirus.

The comparison was made with a group of the same size, people with similar medical backgrounds, who did not receive the vaccine.

“It unequivocally demonstrates that the Pfizer vaccine is extremely effective in the real world one week after the second dose, as clinical trials have suggested,” said Ran Balicer, Clalit’s chief innovation officer.

He added that the product manufactured by the Pfizer BioNTech association is even more effective two weeks after the recall.

Researchers from the Weizmann Institute for Science, which analyzes data at the national level, also noted that, for the first time, there has been a sharp decline in hospitalizations and severe forms of Covid-19 in those over 55 years of age. Previously, the same phenomenon had been reported in those over 60, the first group to receive the vaccine.
