More than a decade ago, Dacia impressed the world with a futuristic model. Duster said. What happened on the streets is far from that model. However, the manufacturer should soon offer something like this, because the model still looks, even in 2020, as something from an SF movie.
The first Duster was launched in November 2009. However, prior to that time, Dacia had an exceptional time at the Geneva Motor Show in March 2009. He then introduced a futuristic car that Duster told him. What happened on the roads is totally different, but that concept could be reused in the coming years, especially considering that it could now be electric.
What plans did Dacia have in 2009 with Duster?
The car you see in the photos above was presented at the Geneva Motor Show as a concept. Some elements could be assumed by other models, but the concept, in essence, never reaches the street.
At that time, Dacia also offered some details about what this car would have. Of course, everything is related to the market 10 years ago. This Duster concept has been characterized as a Multiple Purpose Vehicle (MVP). It has two doors, a 1.5-liter diesel engine and 105 hp. Consumption, at least for that period, was estimated at 5.3 liters / 100 kilometers.
What you see in these images is the creation of a mixed team: French and Romanian designers. Dacia said at the time that it took about a year to complete the model.
Now, in 2020, we expect more models announced by the manufacturer. Also on the list is a facelift duster, but nothing radical. But the most anticipated car is the electric one, called Spring. It is expected to hit the market in 2021.
However, it is important that the new Dacia models are built on Renault’s CMF-B0 platform. Therefore, cars must offer a higher degree of safety, but can also be adapted for new engines, such as hybrid or even electric versions.
