Monica Niculescu (141 WTA), the second athlete in Romania to pass the classification, defeated Vera Zvonareva (182 WTA) in the last preliminary round, at the end of a match lasting more than two hours, score 6-0, 3-6 , 6-3.
In the opening round of Roland Garros, Monica Niculescu will face Danielle Collins (57 WTA).
With the victories obtained by Irina Bara and Monica Niculescu, the number of Romanian athletes in the main table of the French Open reached seven, with Simona Halep, Irina Begu, Ana Bogdan, Patricia Țig and Sorana Cîrstea obtaining the qualification by ranking.
