Sorana Cirstea will participate in the WTA tournament in Miami, scheduled for next week. The Romanian Tennis Federation granted Sorana Cîrstea an exception to participate in the Summer Olympics
“Fortunately, I will play in the Olympics! I was contacted by the federation, I understood that an exemption was obtained for me. They asked me if I wanted to play and I said ‘yes!’ It is an honor, I played two Olympic Games, in the third I was injured.
Naturally, I want to play if this waiver has been obtained. I didn’t ask for it but it came from them and then I was glad“said Sorana Cirstea.
The first 56 players on the ATP and WTA lists, who have scored a minimum number of Davis Cup or FED Cup appearances, in the last two years, can participate in the Olympic Tennis Tournament. Sorana Cirstea Retired of the Romanian FED Cup team in 2018, so the 30-year-old athlete cannot meet this basic condition.
