Deloitte Romania has created an Estimated Salary Cost Calculator dedicated to employers affected by the restrictions imposed due to the COVID-19 pandemic and who can no longer pay their wages in full.

During this period, companies have various legal options to adapt employment contracts to the low volume of activity and, with the help of a computer, they can estimate the wage costs of each option, based on two variables: gross salary and number of employees. dependent on the employee.

The latest changes in labor market legislation allow employers to take certain steps to reduce their salary burden in times of financial difficulties. Practice has shown that three of these must be considered for their individual implementation or in combination, when the law allows it, that is, the entry into technical unemployment in accordance with previous legislation, the entry into technical unemployment under the conditions established by GEO 30/2020 for employers directly or indirectly affected by COVID-19 and granting parents parental permission.

“Each of these scenarios has a different applicable tax treatment, and employers must go through a complex process to establish data on wage costs and the impact of applying these solutions to employees’ net earnings.” In this sense, companies can use this computer, which analyzes two variables, the gross salary and the number of dependents, and estimates the salary costs based on them, “says Monica Ţariuc, Senior Manager of Global Services for Employers, Deloitte Romania .

For example, with a gross salary of 3,000 lei, with two dependents, in case of maintaining the employment contract in the initial version, the total salary cost of the employer is 3,068 lei.

If the employer opts for technical unemployment in accordance with the previous legislation, the wage cost decreases to 2,301 lei. For technical unemployment in charge of the state budget, the total cost is 2,250 lei, but it does not fall on the employer, and if the employee takes days off to supervise the children, the wage cost reaches 2,301 lei (910 lei per employer ). and 1,390 lei to the state).

The computer displays estimated results based on the two variables. They do not take into account other peculiarities that can lead to differences in the calculation.
