INTERACTIVE How the map of political Romania has changed in four years – Elections 2020 vs Elections 2016 – Politics

Four years ago, the PSD won the parliamentary elections by an overwhelming majority, with almost 45% in the country. In the Senate, PSD managed to win in 35 counties, PNL won in just three, and USR, at the time the new kid on the political scene, produced the surprise in the Diaspora. Now, after four years, the map looks very different. PSD won in the country “only” by 30%. In the Senate it won in 22 counties, while the NLP won in 13 counties and USR-PLUS won in the Diaspora, in two large counties and in Bucharest.

In the Chamber of Deputies, in 2016, PSD also won in no less than 35 counties, including the Capital. In 2020, PSD wins in only 23 counties, PNL wins in 12 counties and USR-Plus wins in the Diaspora, in Timiș, Brașov and in the Capital.

The recorded scores are also interesting, in many counties where PSD scored 50-60% in 2016, they now managed to win with only 30-40%.

HotNews.ro has created an interactive application that compares the two elections by counties, with the results of the two houses of Parliament 2020 vs 2016.

Mobile display instructions:

  • Move the vertical cursor (boundary line) to the left or right to see the changes in the two maps.
