hardwareIntel has updated its offering of processors with 32 new models, from $ 42 to $ 488, the recommended price for the Intel 10th Come Lake i9-10900K.
It was developed in a 14nm ++ lithography process, it has 10 cores (the competition has reached 7nm and up to 16 cores). The base frequency is 3.7 GHz and increases with Turbo Boost to 5.3 GHz, it has a TDP of 125W (Thermal Design Power, refers to the cooling power). Intel says the gaming experience will be high.
These are some of the technologies that have brought:
Turbo Boost Max 3.0 – identifies the 2 fastest cores in the chipset and activates them to handle the most demanding tasks;
Thermal speed increase – It works when the processor is below 70 degrees, i9 can offer extra speed (this way it reaches 5.3GHz / core, it is a noticeable boost on the other cores too).
The new i9-10900K would be 10% faster than the 2019 generation in PUBG and 63% faster than the i7-7700K released 3 years ago (when the i9 series processors didn’t even exist).
A competitor in the $ 500 budget is the AMD Ryzen 9 3900X 12-core, 105W TDP and one of the first desktop chips sets developed at 7nm. The frequencies go up to 3.68 GHz / 4.6 GHz, and the cache is 70MB.
I don’t know why, but I get the impression that Intel has fallen asleep a bit, and AMD has become a better alternative.
