More than 3.2 million voting citizens in the Republic of Moldova are expected to participate in the second round of elections for the country’s president on Sunday. The polls opened at 7:00 and will close at 21:00. The interest of the citizens of the Republic of Moldova in these elections increases in comparison with that expressed in the first round. Kilometers were formed in polling stations in various countries and consulates directed voters to other polling stations to give them time to exercise their right to vote.

The Milan consulate asked citizens waiting in line to vote in Parma, Mestre, Milan, Verona and Bologna to go to one of the nearby polling stations to express their choice. In those sections, from the first hours, huge lines had formed since the opening of the polls.

A similar request was made by the Consulate General of the Republic of Moldova in Frankfurt, which announced that, until 10:00, in the electoral college No. 1/349 in Frankfurt am Main, 1,554 voters voted, writes unimedia.info. The consulate sent them to citizens who were queuing to go to polling stations in other cities such as Stuttgart, Kassel, Strasbourg, as there is a risk that there will not be enough ballots left for everyone.

Moldovan citizens of Paris and Prague also voted in large numbers. Voters line up from 07:00 in the morning.

In the second round of the presidential elections, Moldovans settled in Israel also mobilized. Starting at 7:00 am, the first citizens were present to exercise their right to vote, and in half an hour queues had already formed, according to the cited source.

There were also crowds in some polling stations in Belgium, the United Kingdom, Ireland, Romania, Spain, Greece, Denmark, Portugal, Switzerland, the Czech Republic and the Kingdom of the Netherlands.

The second round is organized after none of the eight candidates for the office of President of the Republic of Moldova obtained 50 +1 of the valid votes cast in the first round.

Thus, in the fight for the most important political position in Chisinau are the candidate of the Action and Solidarity Party, Maia Sandu, and the current president, Igor Dodon, who registered in the electoral race as independent, with the support of the Socialist Party of the Republic of Moldova.
