Prime Minister Florin Cîțu joined the “Green Friday” campaign to stop using the car one day a week, and this morning he walked from home to office. Several ministers complied, but some still preferred the car: “I am convinced that in the coming months everyone will come on foot,” he said. The idea for the campaign came from the Ministry of the Environment, who wanted Romanians to Give up cars on this day of the week and travel by public transport, bicycles, or electric cars.

The prime minister was hesitant to say how far he had walked from his home to the government.

Florin Cîțu also said that he no longer rides a bicycle, but still uses the metro “from time to time.”

“It will be more cyclist friendly now that we have a new mayor general who supports this mode of public transportation,” he added.
