The mayor of the capital, Nicușor Dan, declared that in Bucharest Christmas lights will be turned on, regulating the lighting problem through a three-year contract, which will expire this winter.

“The issue of festive lighting is related to a contract between a municipal company subordinate to the General Council and a private operator.

We need some advice. The Board of Directors must change the General Meeting of the company, the General Meeting must change the Board of Directors (BOD) and the Board must discuss with the private operator.

The contract was signed for three years and will expire with this winter, works were carried out in 90% of what was expected. We will have the same street decoration that we had last year, ”explained Nicușor Dan.

He said the value of the contract is nine million lei.

Asked if the lights will come on on December 1, the mayor general replied: “It is a decision we will make. If they are still on, we will turn them on.”
