Prime Minister Ludovic Orban said on Saturday he did not see “a very serious reason” to change the school system in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic.
“Since the beginning of the school year we have made a decision, which is a decision that was based on the opinions of specialists, that depending on the level of spread of the virus in the community, schools can operate, in the classroom, half in the classroom, half online or totally online, when the rate exceeds 3 per thousand. I have used this system. From my point of view, I do not see, at the moment, a very serious reason to change this system. Although, I tell you , m- I expressed publicly, the child, at school, is protected because he is under the supervision of the teacher, he wears a mask, even during recess the teachers have the obligation to supervise him how he plays (…) It’s fine, but we have taken into account the opinion of the specialists and we decided on this opening system ”, declared Ludovic Orban at a press conference, after being sworn in by the mayor of Slobozia, Dragoş Soare, Agerpres transmits.
He responded this way when asked about the fact that in some European countries schools remained open, although new quarantine measures were imposed, and whether he considers such a variant.
“There are countries that keep schools open, it is a decision they have made, we want to see what effects it will have. Because, on the other hand, remember, when we made the decision to start school, there was a massacre. against us, who do not have a heart, who do not want to protect children in Romania, who lead them safely to disease. The culmination is that many of those who accused us of making the decision to start school now say We have made the decision based on some analysis, some evaluations We follow everything that happens in any other country, in all fields of activity, too We follow the way the educational process develops in this system, we do evaluations If it is necessary to change this system, obviously we will have a public debate and announce the decision, but for the moment, this system has been introduced since September 14, when school started, has been running for a month and a half. , from my point of view, it’s you. In a system that, on the one hand, responds to the imperative of ensuring the child’s access to the educational process, on the other hand, protects the health of both children and their parents and grandparents ”, Orban said.
The prime minister added that, in fact, it can be seen that the COVID-19 infection rate among the school population has not increased significantly.
