I did not come for the holidays. We need to work faster. There was not much desire to develop the infrastructure.

Road traffic on the Iernut-Chetani section, part of the Transilvania highway (A3), was inaugurated on Friday, September 18. The event was attended by the Minister of Transport, Prime Minister Orban and the President of Romania. Klaus Iohannis said their presence was a sign that infrastructure work needed to go much faster.

To update:

The main statements of President Klaus Iohannis:
– Congratulations for doing this section. It is obvious that the infrastructure in Romania is far behind. You really didn’t want to develop the infrastructure. This paradigm has changed. Now you want.
– We did not come to parties, but to give a signal: we must work faster, meet deadlines and continue with the infrastructure works. We still have a lot of work to do in Romania.
– A few months ago, together with the Orban government, we launched the plan to relaunch the Romanian economy. Perhaps the most difficult point is the great infrastructure. Here I have very high expectations from the government and the builders to take important steps.
– This event wants to show that we realize the importance of these works and that everything must go much faster.
– We need financing and European funds are ready. These infrastructure projects will be the impetus through which Romania’s infrastructure will be launched.
– My presence means that I will continue to connect with these projects, because I realize their importance.
– The development of infrastructure in Romania is a must.

– We have many works: Olt Valley, Transilvania Highway. I must assure you that we will complete these jobs in no time.

The main statements of Prime Minister Ludovic Orban:
– The idea for the Transylvania highway was born around 2002. Soon, Targu Mures will be able to reach Bors by highway. We are also interested in our brothers in Moldova and Bessarabia being able to reach the European transport infrastructure on the road profile. We pay special attention to the section Targu Mures – Targu Neamt.
– We have already taken some steps to change the public procurement laws, so that the procedures are simplified, so that contracts can be signed faster.
“About Astaldi.” He is a serious builder who has done his job, achieving his goals when he becomes part of a contract.
– I am waiting for the mobilization of Straco so that the section is ready on July 1, otherwise we will look for another builder. Just to be clear.
– During this year we intend to complete the two remaining sections of the Sebes-Turda highway.

The main statements of the Minister of Transport, Lucian Bode:
– The year 2020 is the year of the development of transport infrastructure in Romania. It is the year of the construction of the Transylvania Highway. In November last year, we worked timidly in two of the 10 sections. In ten months of the Orban government, I put 25 km of highway in circulation. We are working on 110 kilometers of road, starting next week, when we will sign the contracts.
– The year 2020 is also the year of the Sibiu-Pitesti motorway, it is the year of the Craiova-Pitesti motorway, it is the year of the A7 motorway, because we have entered into contracts and it is the year of the Unirii motorway, because we canceled an association public private toxic.
– We will focus on securing the financing of these projects and on professional monitoring.

Initial novelty:

The 17.9-kilometer Iernut-Chetani section, part of the A3, is built by the Astaldi-Max Boegl association. The builder completely paved the asphalt, completed the Iernut road crossing and the road markings, according to the Pro Infrastructure Association.

The works started in 2016 and will be completed in September this year, according to the contract worth 437.6 million lei, excluding VAT.

Romania currently has 855 kilometers of highway, after the 5 kilometers between Biharia and Bors were inaugurated this year, the only inauguration so far, in 2020. After the Iernut-Chetani lot opens, the Romanians will have to 873 kilometers of road.
