After the storm that hit the capital on Saturday night, experts point out that we are heading towards a not very pleasant time from a thermal point of view.

Meteorological phenomena such as that of Saturday night have occurred in other years and will be increasingly frequent, experts warn. At the end of this century, the Romanian climate will change substantially. And due to pollution, our grandchildren run the risk of not knowing what snow is.

George Gârbacea, researcher: “We will have quite frequent fluctuations, differences of 20 degrees or even up to 40 degrees in a single day. There is an estimate that the snow cover, by the year 2100, will decrease by 90%. This is because we are putting fossil fuels into the atmosphere. “

Specialists estimate that the average annual temperature in Bucharest will rise from just under 11 degrees, as it is now, to 19.2 degrees Celsius, in the next 80 years.

In other words, our grandchildren will see the snow only in photos, and the Capital will have the climate of Athens.

In addition, the southern part of the country is at risk of becoming a desert and many species of animals and plants may become extinct. They will not be able to adapt to such a sudden change.
