Secretary of State Raed Arafat announced on Thursday night, after the meeting of the National Committee for Emergency Situations, that the state of alert will be extended for another 30 days, starting on December 14. This means that the winter holidays will be celebrated by Romanians with restrictions, the same rules being in force as before, the most important in this regard being traffic after 23:00 only for good reason.
Raed Arafat specified that a new measure has been incorporated: “To limit the spread of SARS-CoV-2 infections, the organization and development of the activity of cable transport operators serving the ski slopes is carried out in the conditions established by joint order of the Minister. Health and the Ministry of Economy, Energy and Business Environment “.
Thus, he spoke about what happens next during the holidays: “It is very important what each person in the family will do. We are not in steady decline yet. “
Arafat said that at Christmas and New Year’s Eve the same measures will be in effect as before. This means that there will be no street parties on New Years Eve.
“During the holidays, think about your health, that of your family and the elderly. Try as much as possible to limit the number of people you meet,” Arafat said.
Asked what will happen on New Year’s Eve, however, if Romanians will be able to go out at least in front of the house or the block, the Secretary of State replied: “All the limitations that have existed until now remain. Street parties, no. The tracks are open but respecting all the rules that apply to their surroundings, to restaurants, hotels, physical distance ”.
At the same time, Arafat announced that the ski resorts will be open, including the cable car but with a reduced number of people, and holiday reservations are allowed, but “according to the rules” of the state of alert.
Regarding the Christmas carol, Raed Arafat said: “The advice is to avoid this, even if it is a tradition, walking from house to house, you enter the house, you stay a little longer, the risk of contagion increases a lot.”
As for the slaughter of pigs, he stated that it is “not written anywhere” that this activity is prohibited.
Asked also if the Romanians will stay in the New Year’s houses, the Secretary of State intervened: “There will be no festivities. We can make many assumptions. The rules are clear. Those who come into contact with several people put themselves in danger, the recommendation is to avoid these actions ”, referring to the possibility that people can go out to the streets at midnight.
