The Minister of Education, Monica Anisie, arrives with clarifications on Facebook to clarify the statement that generated controversy in the online environment.
“It is an epidemic of fake news in Romania! An extremely dangerous and extremely sad reality. Who is suffering the consequences of the epidemic of FAKE NEWS?
Yesterday I felt on my skin what it means to be powerless in the face of an epidemic of tendentious lies and misinterpretations that have only one goal: to discredit you for any purpose. A propaganda site took me out of context and distorted my message from the Monday night program on Realitatea Plus, where I was invited and where I discussed, among other things, the measures taken by the ministry for children from disadvantaged families who do not have access . on tablets still about children living in buildings without electricity. You all read the FAKE news: “The Minister of Education recommends television lessons for children living in homes without electricity.” Before long, that site completely turned the news into something else:
“Minister of Education: for online school, students without tablets can watch lessons on TV”
In vain, the fake news, although it disappeared, had already taken over.
I don’t think my message was clear on Monday night! But, at this moment, when the FALSE news seems more real than the TRUTH, it is necessary to return with my answer, first of all for those in good faith, parents, teachers, students, who deserve to be informed CORRECTLY by me, but and for the “enclosed”, who insist on not understanding: For the children who live in houses that are not connected to the electricity grid, the school sent teaching materials to the student’s home. And students from underprivileged families, who instead live in buildings connected to the electricity grid, who have not yet received tablets, have the option of watching the lessons on TVR, within the TeleSchool program.
Dear journalists, and I am referring to only one category in the press: do not abuse the power and privileges that this honorable profession offers you. You do an irreparable disservice to honest colleagues who uphold the ethical principles of the profession.
I respect your rights and admire your ability to improve society. But when you use this power to create chaos and destroy, someone needs to intervene. I made it a point to be the one to speak today. I will do my best and I will do everything in my power so that Parliament, next year, implements and adopts a law that severely punishes FAKE NEWS. I believe that an educated society is a well-informed society!
I await your proposals and opinions on this bill, ”writes Monica Anisie on Facebook.
Monica Anisie was asked, on the television channel Realitatea Plus, what happens to those school children from disadvantaged areas who still do not have access to the tablets necessary for online education or electricity.
Journalist: Have you taken into account those who do not have electricity at home, so they cannot connect to the internet with their tablet?
Monica Anisie: Of course, these steps have been taken from the moment I had an emergency. We all stay home and take the online courses. Where there was no such possibility, the school provided the children with work materials so that they could continue their learning. In addition, the Ministry of Education, in partnership with Romanian Television, carried out the “Teleșcoala” program, through which we continue to prepare students for national exams.
