Millions of animal lovers in Romania rejoice after 12 years of hard struggle.

” It is an important day for the millions of animal lovers in Romania! The GEO Vela on the establishment of the Animal Police was adopted. It is a historic moment because Romania is also among civilized countries. As of now, you have an American police model after the American model! Marinescu said.

When the fight for animal rights began

” In 2008 was the first historical moment in which the Law for the Protection of Animals was passed, which introduced criminal penalties for those who intentionally torture and kill them, that is, the Marinescu Law. Since 2008, for 12 years, we have been waiting every day for the establishment of the Animal Police, ” Marinescu stressed.

” We want to have a good collaboration, we are specialized NGOs, with the Animal Police, which will operate 24 hours a day throughout the country. Those who find certain abuses on animals can call 112, and the new structure is obliged to intervene, save the animals according to the SMURD model and open criminal cases against poachers and all those who kill and traffic in animals. ” Marinescu.

‘Criminals who kill an animal today will kill a man tomorrow’

“We want to create a single registry to record those who tortured and killed these beings because criminals who kill an animal today kill a man tomorrow. We also thank Minister Marcel Vela for the step he took in establishing the Animal Police, ” Marinescu said.

“In conclusion, I make a warning to all those who do not love animals and do not respect their rights: they will end up in prison once the Animal Police is established!”, Concluded Senator Marius Marinescu, for DC News.
