“We have files with dignitaries at work, with hundreds of thousands of euros in bribes. This week we will complete some of the files related to Unifarm. Several defendants will be tried this week. We are also investigating cases with state subsidies to political parties. And there we are in a straight line. By the end of the year, citizens will have pleasant surprises in the fight against corruption, ”Crin Bologa told Europa FM.

The DNA Chief Prosecutor was asked why Director Adrian Ionel was not detained, but only placed under judicial control.

This is the option of the prosecutors in the case, who at the time they took the preventive measure of judicial control, appreciated that for the best administration of the case, this measure was necessary to complete their investigation. It is about the internal kitchen of the archive, it is not a whim. Thus, the prosecutors were able to administer other tests that, in the end, will lead to the solution of this case this week, ”argues Crin Bologa.

Unifarm CEO Eugen Adrian Ionel is under investigation for various crimes, including bribery and abuse of power. He allegedly demanded 760,000 euros from an intermediary representing a company to award him a contract for the purchase of protective equipment against the coronavirus. The contract would have been concluded with a private company, in the first half of March 2020. A tranche of one million masks was not fulfilled, resulting in a damage of 2.3 million lei for Unifarm.
