“We form a government together with NLP, not around NLP, because NLP is not a Christmas tree and we are not like balloons. We have received a mandate from the people to rule in a reformist center-right majority, not to act like Ludovic Orban. And we will abide by this mandate, ”MP Tudor Pop wrote on Facebook on Sunday.

He claims that the PNL wants key positions in the government and the legislature, although it only won 25% in the elections.

“Unfortunately, the NLP came to the discussions and said: we already have the prime minister and the president of the Chamber of Deputies, let’s start the negotiation! With such an attitude toward who your partners should be, you won’t find allies for a majority. The vote on December 6 forces the center-right parties to associate, especially in the conditions of a still strong PSD. This is the mandate given by right-wing voters. If they wanted an NLP government with imaginary satellites, they overwhelmingly voted for NLP. But almost half of them voted for USR PLUS and UDMR. But the PNL wants the key positions in the executive and the legislature, to control both the government and the parliamentary majority, and the other parties just to secure their majority. He took 25% in the elections and has 45% of party claims. We will not accept that the NLP has all the decision-making positions, and we will only execute them, ”the parliamentarian also wrote on the social network.

Negotiations between the leaders of PNL, USR-PLUS and UDMR stalled on Sunday morning, shortly after the talks resumed. Political sources say that in Cotroceni the parties could come up with two prime ministerial proposals.

The three parties could not agree on the division of functions of prime minister, president of the Chamber of Deputies and president of the Senate.

The leaders of the three parties agreed to meet on Tuesday, after consultations in Cotroceni, which are scheduled for Monday. According to sources close to the negotiations, each party will go to dialogue with Klaus Iohannis with their own proposal for prime minister, Florin Cîţu of the PNL and Dacian Cioloş, supported by USR-PLUS.
