Voting is over in the diaspora

Voting abroad, in the elections for the Senate and the Chamber of Deputies, ended in the 748 polling stations.

The last sections closed were on the west coast of the US and Canada at 7:00 AM Romanian time, the MFA announces.

35,808 Romanian citizens from abroad chose to vote by mail and 3,078 chose to vote at the electoral college.

GOLD, the surprise of the elections

The surprise of these elections, the AUR (Alliance for the Union of Romanians) party, ranks second in the preferences of Romanians in the diaspora.

According to the partial results of the parliamentary elections, obtained after the centralization of 58.68% of the votes outside the borders, AUR is the option for 26.51% of the votes counted so far.

Only USR Plus achieved better results, centralizing 29.09% of the options of Romanians abroad.

So far, the votes of 439 polling stations have been counted out of a total of 748.

Partial results of the 2020 diaspora parliamentary elections:

USR Plus Alliance – 29.09% (28,542 votes)
GOLD – 26.51% (26,009 votes)
NLP – 25.52% (25,039 votes)
PMP – 7.01% (6,876 votes)
PSD – 4% (3,925 votes)
Stefan Voloseniuc – 2.27 (2.227 votes)
Pro Romania – 2.19% (2,151 votes)
UDMR – 1.86% (1,821 votes)
PER – 1.54% (1,510 votes)

265,437 Romanian citizens voted abroad, as of Monday at 5:00 Romanian time, in the parliamentary elections. 21,329 of these votes were cast by correspondence.
