This morning, Prof. Dr. Octavian Unc passed away and his fellow doctors could do nothing to save him.
Prof. Dr. Octavian Dumitru Unc was one of the most famous surgeons in Constanța, founder of a private clinic and member of the Romanian Academy of Scientists.
Who was Prof. Dr. Octavian Unc
He was a personality who saw many of his professional dreams come true. He was trained in the old Bucharest medical and surgical school, as described by his colleagues.
He replaced the founder of the Constanța medical school, Professor Dr. Vasile Sârbu and participated in all the national and local premieres that have been performed in the last 30 years at the Constanta surgery. He opened the first private surgery clinic in Dobrogea, 14 years ago, an action that implied recklessness but also the possession of the qualities of a good manager, currently the clinic has 52 employees.
For three and a half years he was, between 2011-2014, head of the surgery clinic at the Constanța County Hospital, a period in which he consistently ranked first in terms of efficiency and compliance with indicators. He interwoven the activity of surgeon, with more than 20,000 patients, with that of teacher since 1990, since the establishment of the Faculty of Medicine, and implicitly the “Ovidius” University of Constanța, starting from the assistant degree and reaching that of professor, stage.
As an academic achievement, it was voted and accepted, unanimously, within the Romanian Academy of Scientists, a forum that includes only a few doctors or even professors from Constanța, but, since 2010, also within the Romanian Committee for History and Philosophy of the Science. and Techniques of the Romanian Academy.
She has been a member of the French Society of Senology and Breast Pathology since 1999, where she won an award. He was also a member of other academic societies, such as the Romanian Society of Surgery, the Romanian Society for the History of Medicine.
He was the first author and co-author of 24 books, almost half of which is the first author. He has been a member of the Union of Romanian Writers since 2018.
