The incidence rate of COVID-19 cases at 14 days exceeded 3 per thousand inhabitants in Bucharest (3.02) and was very close to this threshold in Vâlcea (2.97) and Alba (2.86), according to data provided on Sunday by the Strategic Communication Group.

The lowest accumulated incidents are found in Argeș (0.62), Mehedinți (0.66) and Buzău (0.69).

The government approved this Wednesday, by decision, the extension of the alert state in 30 days and the new restrictions established by the National Committee for Emergency Situations.

The new measures provide the obligation to wear a mask in open spaces, if the infection rate is higher than 3 per thousand. Also in such incidence, restaurants and cafes nearby.


Too, schools would enter the red dash, at such a rate of infections.

Within 48 hours after this infection rate is reached, the county / Bucharest committees for emergency situations determine the situation and the measures are automatically implemented.

The measures adopted by the Government, in short:

  • Up to 3 per thousand incidence, the mask is mandatory in crowded spaces and 50 m from schools.
  • From 3 to 1 incidence, the mask is mandatory in all open spaces.
  • From 0 to 1.5 per thousand incidence, restaurants and cafes will operate at 50% of their capacity.
  • With an incidence between 1.5 and 3, the restaurants will operate with 30% capacity.
  • From an incidence greater than 3 per thousand, the restaurants will be closed.
  • It was still mandatory to test staff at residential care and assistance centers once a week.
  • Private events are still banned nationally.
  • The reference will be to the figures of the population registers, which are updated weekly.
