The candidate for the Senate of the Alliance for the Union of Romanians, Rodica Vila, is accused by prosecutors of going with false signatures to the 2016 local elections, reports G4media.
This situation contradicts the AUR platform, which supports “integrity and fairness in public life,” according to the party’s statute, and in the electoral campaign the party emphasized the alleged corruption of the entire political class.
Currently, even in the month of the parliamentary elections, Rodica Vila is on trial for committing two crimes of misuse. The criminal case was finalized by the Prosecutor’s Office attached to the Cluj-Napoca Court on December 20, 2019. The judge of the preliminary chamber established that the investigators’ evidence was administered legally, with the first trial period scheduled for December 2020.
Submitted forged signatures
Consulted by G4Media.ro, the Prosecutor’s Office attached to the Cluj-Napoca Court of Justice transmitted that “on 04/26/2016, the defendant appeared at the Electoral Table of the constituency, in order to present the necessary documents for the registration of the candidacy for mayor and local councilor, context in which he would have presented two lists of signatures of the supporters, corresponding to the two functions, within which there would have been 5 signatures of which the accused would have known that they are false ”. In the same case, Rodica Vila was also investigated under the guise of committing crimes of falsification of documents under private signature, but the accusation was archived.
At the time, Vila was running for the Romanian People’s Party for the position of mayor and local councilor of the Apahida commune in Cluj county. In the end, he couldn’t get any of the positions.
“The case is under discussion. It was a resentment, a harassment from the then mayor. The complaint was made by a woman who, after the elections, became a lawyer in the City Council. There was nothing illegal. He had collected 300 signatures and needed 100” said the AUR member.
