The new conditions of the British immigration system do not apply to Romanian citizens who have registered with the EU Settlement Scheme (EUSS) or who are eligible to register until June 30, 2021, according to the statement.

Romanian citizens will be able to travel to the United Kingdom for tourism or visits, for a period of up to 6 months a year, without the need for a visa. At the same time, until September 30, 2021, Romanian citizens can enter the UK as at present, with a passport or identity card, according to the Ministry of Labor. Starting October 1, 2021, they will need a passport to travel to the UK. European citizens registered in the EUSS or who have the right to do so until December 31, 2025 are exempt from this rule.

How do Romanians who want to work in Great Britain get a visa?

Romanians who wish to work in the United Kingdom will be able to obtain a visa based on the fulfillment of the cumulative conditions specific to each career, conditions that include the job offer, the minimum salary corresponding to the degree or the level of English.

Under the new immigration system implemented by the UK, three career routes have been implemented: the Skilledworker route; the route for skilled health and care workers (Health & Careworker); the path of highly skilled workers (Global Talent), according to the statement.

Depending on the fulfillment of the criteria of the qualified workers route, applicants will be assigned a number of points, and 70 points are required to be eligible. The first 50 points are obtained by mandatory criteria and the other 20 are “negotiable”.

The mandatory criteria for 50 points are: job offer from a UK based “sponsor” employer, authorized by the UK Home Office, at the appropriate qualification level (20 points); education level – minimum level RQF3 / level A (in Romania, Baccalaureate) (20 points); Level of English: intermediate level B1 (as defined in the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages) (10 points).

The “negotiable” criteria from which additional points can be obtained are: the minimum salary of 25,600 pounds sterling per year or the salary corresponding to the position, either of which is at a higher level (20 points); employment in a poor area of ​​the UK labor market (10 points); the applicant has a PhD in a field relevant to the job (10 points).
