Florin Iordache will be appointed, on Tuesday, by the plenary session of Parliament, president of the Legislative Council. According to some sources in the parliamentary leadership, Iordache has already presented his curriculum, although he hopes to continue to get a place in the future Parliament on the PSD lists. The leadership of the Legislative Council is a reward for the party for the withdrawal of Iordache from the PSD parliamentary lists.

The plenary session in which Florin Iordache will be appointed president of the Legislative Council is scheduled for 4:00 p.m.

The presentation of candidacies lasted until Tuesday, at 12:00 hours, in the hope that Iordache will be able to convince his PSD colleagues to return him to Parliament. The PSD Olt organization, led by Secretary General Paul Stanescu, no longer wants Iordache on the lists, party sources say.

The office of President of the Legislative Council is for life. The chiefs here, appointed by the vote of senators and deputies, have no term limit and there is no procedure by which they can be revoked. Therefore, they cannot be changed and can remain in office until the end of their lives. The former President of the Council, Dragoș Iliescu is 77 years old, retired and has been in charge of the institution for a quarter of a century.

According to the former president’s wealth declaration, he was paid a salary of 12,000 lei per month.

The Legislative Council is an important institution for the legislative process. Employees here support all laws presented to Parliament so that regulations do not overlap, do not contradict provisions of other laws or do not contradict the Constitution. This maintains a somewhat coherent legislative framework.

Former CCR judge, Toni Greblă, and former Secretary of State for the Ministry of Justice, Mariana Moț, also assumed the leadership of the Legislative Council.
