Florin Cîțu will be the prime minister proposed by the PNL, USR-PLUS and UDMR coalition, Ludovic Orban announced on Friday night, after negotiations between the three political parties. As Digi24.ro reported on Thursday, those at USR PLUS clearly communicated their preference for Florin Cîțu, although Ludovic Orban was not happy with this option.
“Florin Cîțu is the candidate for the post of Prime Minister, supported by UDMR, USR-PLUS and PNL.
With regard to the two positions of President of Parliament, the president of the Senate will belong to a USR-PLUS candidate, the president of the Chamber of Deputies of an NLP candidate.
As for the Government, in addition to the Prime Minister, we have decided the portfolios that will be filled by those who will form the Government. Is about two deputy prime ministers. The government will have 18 ministries. Of these, 9 will be led by representatives of NLP, USR-PLUS 6 and 3 representatives of UDMR“said liberal leader Ludovic Orban.
USR President Dan Barna said:
“Today has proven to be an important step towards a stable coalition and assuming the government in this difficult period for Romania.
The portfolios assumed by USR-PLUS are the Ministry of Justice, the Ministry of Transport, the Ministry of Health, the Ministry of Research, Innovation and Digitization, the Ministry of Economy with the part of entrepreneurship and SMEs ”.
PLUS leader Dacian Ciolos said:
“Probably contrary to what many thought would be a difficult, tough negotiation, with complaints, here that after an intense day of discussions and a lot of good will and good faith from the 3 sides, we were able to offer a flexible government structure.
Negotiations have not been completed. We have reached an agreement on the structure of the government but we are going to continue the talks to finalize the government program, but I say that the most difficult thing is over.
The president of the UDMR, Kelemen Hunor, stated:
“We have had key discussions about a coalition that will last 4 years, parliamentary stability and governmental stability after 8 years in which we had 12 governments, I am convinced that in the coming years we will be able to ensure both the necessary investments and the economy is growing, We will be able to have secure jobs, we will be able to invest in education and health and under these conditions we have committed ourselves to participate together with our colleagues in the formation of the parliamentary majority.
We will take on 3 ministries. The Ministry of Development and Public Works Administration, an important ministry in the government economy, because we need to develop all Romanian localities in a balanced way, to reduce development gaps. Ministry of Water, Environment and Forests. Sustainable development means taking care of the environment, that is why we have inherited it, because we have to leave it to our children. It is a ministry that will have a voice in all areas of investment. The Ministry of Youth and Sports is important, because without young women there is no future and without sports you cannot think of a modern society ”.
Florin Cîțu stated: “I will be directly involved in the next few days to complete the government program. It is important that a government invests in the next few days as soon as possible.”
