Finland has put in place a unique immigration system and has already received thousands of applications in one month. The program allows those who want to become Finnish to move to the Nordic country for a 90-day trial to see how it adapts.
Finland received more than 5,300 applications in a month for this immigration scheme. The Helsinki Business Hub program invited foreign professionals and their families to live in Finland for 90 days to see if they would like to move there permanently.
The offer is valid for people who work in the field of technology and for their families.
The Helsinki Business Hub included the organization of all aspects of accommodation and medical care for the participants.
The requests came from countries around the world. The Finnish scheme has attracted the most interest in the United States and Canada, where 30% of applicants come from.
About 16% of the applicants were entrepreneurs and 12% were currently unemployed or looking for work in Finland.
“In a time of blockades, social injustices and political unrest, people living in severely affected areas have begun to wonder how they could have a career and a pleasant family life,” said Johanna Huurre, communication director for the program.
Often ranked as the happiest country in the world, Finland has one of the lowest coronavirus rates in the world.
