“LOn 22 November 2019, Romania submitted to the Commission a request for a major project that envisaged a contribution from the Cohesion Fund for the “Construction of the Bacău Ring Road”., selected by the managing authority for priority axis 1, “Improving mobility through the development of the TEN-T network and the metro” within the “Large infrastructures” operational program. Romania has provided the Commission with all the necessary information, including on environmental issues. The purpose of the project The Bacău bypass is represented by the granting of non-reimbursable financing to CNAIR, in order to build 30,842 km of new road, of which 16,269 km of motorway, 7 bridges, 9 crossings, 1 crossing of roads and 7 intersections. At the end of the implementation, the Bacău bypass option will save significant time, by reducing the travel time of cars and heavy vehicles ”, says Bode, on his Facebook page.

The total value of the project is 968,781 million lei, of which the total eligible value, financed by the Large Infrastructure Operational Program 2014-2020, is 811,102 million lei (85% of the total eligible value approved – 689,437 million lei comes from the Cohesion Fund and 15% in value of 121,665 million lei will be financed from the beneficiary’s budget).

“It is another proof that Moldova is not being forgotten. the first part of the motorway for the Moldavian area, namely the Bacău bypass, benefits from European funding as of today. And this in the conditions in which, last year, the former PSD government sent incomplete documentation to the EC, without environmental management plans, for various infrastructure objectives. On this occasion, the European representatives found partners for dialogue and teamwork and the seriousness with which the data and information requested by the Commission are transmitted bear fruit, ”said the Minister of Transport, Lucian Bode.
