Romania will produce an essential medicine for Europe, in the context of the fight against COVID-19.
This is Antibiotice Iași, which won the European Commission competition. It will produce amoxicillin with clavulanic acid for Europe, an essential drug in the treatment of infections associated with COVID-19. The drug, recognized by the WHO in this fight, also treats patients who are in critical condition.
Ioan Anani, manager of Antibiotice Iași, in an intervention at Digi24, stated that this process “implied cumulative gains in four aspects: quality, price, product validity period and delivery time”. He added that the first deliveries will begin “in the fall of this year, because each member country must obtain the amount with which it has registered.” Other European and foreign companies also participated in the auction. Regarding target patients, Ioan Anani stated that “it is aimed at all patients who are in critical condition in the hospital, with various infections caused by pathogens, as well as bacteria and other associated infections, at the same time, being destined for treatments of COVID hospitals ”.
In June, Antibiotice Iași won two more tenders, for the United States and Great Britain.
