Outraged that Bucovina’s forests are disappearing due to timber thieves, an environmental activist stopped a suspicious transport and asked the authorities to check the documents and measure the logs.
However, he was attacked before the eyes of the policemen who finally found irregularities, fined 14,000 lei and opened a criminal case.
The young activist noticed a gigantic transport of wood in traffic: a truck with large trees, plus two loaded trailers, so he called 112 to ask the police to search it.
The agents stopped the driver and took him to the forest turnoff in the area. This is where the scandal started!
Beaten in the presence of the police
“What’s up ?! Thousand? Did you find the great law-making trick? Wait a minute! But I’m not staying at all. (Hits him) I get … into your live shows. (Hits him again) Did you bring people here to beat us? Take care of your mountains! Why did you hit me ?! That’s the proof! Do you want proof? Wait, I’ll give you proof! ” (hits him). Thus the tense exchanges of comments between the combatants took place.
In the middle of the discussion, even in the presence of the police, the owner of the truck hit the environmental activist, who shared what happened on Facebook.
“The truck was seen in Bădeuţi. It has 14 m3 in the truck and 22 in the trailer. What bothered me the most was that this man wanted to flee.” say Iulian Ureche, environmental activist. “
Reporter: “Who attacked you?
Environmental activist: “A representative of the company, probably. I don’t know him personally. He threatened me, beat me and brought 10 other very violent people with him. In Bucovina, illegal logging is a phenomenon. They all have the support of Bucharest and influential people and they can afford to make fun of the Bucovina forests. Until now there have been threats against my family that they will set my car, my house on fire. “
How many fines did the driver collect?
The police found several irregularities in the transport of wood, for which they imposed fines of 14,000 lei. At the same time, they filed a criminal case for hitting, threatening and destroying.
Ionuţ Epurianu, spokesperson for IPJ Suceava: “The amount of wood was much higher. 5,000 lei for non-compliance with the permit processing form. The policemen also requested the presence of the ISCTR representatives who found irregularities regarding the excess length of the set of vehicles, being fined 2,800 lei. Because the driver refused to weigh the wood, a fine of 6,000 lei was imposed. “
Almost two months ago, a ranger wrecked the car of another activist in the area. And on Friday, the head of the Gurghiu forest district, Mureş county, was found dead in the forest. Investigators believe he committed suicide after several checks in the area, but did not leave a goodbye note.
